Louisiana is tied with Florida for having the fifth lowest high school graduation rate in the country, said a new analysis by the U.S. Department of Education that was released Monday. The state-by-state analysis marks the first of its kind in which equal factors were used by all states so that a more accurate comparison could be made, the agency said.

Louisiana had a graduation rate of 71%.
